My Weekend.
Chapter 1: Scandal at the House of Friendship
Last week I came to work and the police had just left. Turns out one of our cooks was making some accusations of some kind against our activity director and brought her son along and things got a little out of hand. So our activity director decided not to come in for the rest of the week and fly to France as he had planned on Monday. Only problem- our Christmas dinner (run by said activity director) is planned for Friday night. Guess who is now in charge? Not to mention that I'm supposed to get a Christmas newsletter out, and do my own job. Yoi. All goes smoothly with a 13 hour working day on Friday. Everyone is filled with turkey and ready to sleep all day Saturday....except for the party.
Chapter 2: The Party
Our house decided to hold a farewell to leaving housemates/ Christmas party on Saturday. All good, lots of food, nice people etc. My housemate's boyfriend is finally home from school in Goshen and she's super excited. They disappear into a bedroom (which is only awkward because his Mom is here...) and he breaks up with her. In the middle of her farewell party. Jerk. Meanwhile, my 'not sure how much wine I've had' housemate Julia decides to call this guy she met in a bar who gave her his number and tell him to come to our party and bring some friends. So they show up with their beer and pot to our place full of church elders and things. This is all good, except two of the three of them barely speak English and Julia barely speaks French. Awkward conversation ensues. Then Julia disappears with frenchboy and Jen and I are left to entertain his two friends. (along with my brother Jim who came up for the weekend). By this point it is after 2am and everyone else has gone home. We sit in our living room willing them to leave for nearly an hour until Julia finally emerges and we see them on their way. Please don't come back boring awkward french boys!
